6 bures surround the beautiful Koi pond and are connected by bridges and 3 very private bures are tucked away in the garden. For families or singles traveling together the Beqa Lagoon Resort has 4 comfortable and spacious two-bedroom bures (about 1,000 sq ft). The upstairs units have large balconies with ocean view and downstairs units have a private porch.

Enjoy fun-filled days snorkeling, swimming or kayaking the warm waters of the blue lagoon, hike to the mystical waterfalls, play a friendly game of volleyball, horseshoes or croquet with the locals or spend an exciting afternoon deep-sea fishing.

 

Put on a mask and fins anytime. One of the resort’s distinctive features is that coral reef heads thrive just a few feet from the beach. Even if you do not dive, you will be able to see many wonders of Beqa Lagoon, such as clown fish, Lionfish, lobsters, live corals and lots of other tropical creatures. Or, take a half day introductory scuba diving resort course and explore the deeper waters.

Hiking: Just behind the resort the land slopes gently upward into a tropical forest. Here the thick jungle vegetation occasionally gives way to patches of sweet potatoes, pineapples and taro root. Tropical flowers bloom everywhere, and the tables at the resort are always filled with fresh cuttings If you hike a short way up the hillside, you will find yourself at the base of an impressive waterfall. Further up the trail you reach a vantage point to view the entire lagoon.

Surrounded by over 190 miles of spectacular coral, Beqa Lagoon is one of the world’s largest barrier reefs. The water is clear and warm, visibility is typically over 100 feet, currents are generally mild, and the water temperature stays a fairly constant 80 degrees.

The Dive Masters at Beqa Lagoon have been diving in these waters since they were children and know every reef and coral head and will point out the creatures that abound in these waters - Blue Ribbon Eels, Clown Triggers, Lion Fish, Leaf Scorpions, Reef Sharks and millions of colorful Anthias and Fusiliers.

Underwater, the magic never lets up, we fin around pinnacles cloaked in psychedelic pink, orange and red soft corals.

We see wispy lionfish and leaf scorpion fish camouflaged in their crevices, and watch a camera-shy batfish try, and fail, to hide from a group of underwater photographers in a swim-through.

The lagoon itself is more than 100 square miles, ringed by a 40-mile-long reef, the rim of a long-extinct volcano’s crater. Diving takes place mainly on the western and northeastern edges of the reef, and the best sites: Fantasy, Golden Arches, Seven Sisters, offer complete microcosms of the best of Beqa's intricate coral formations, delicate sea fans and feather stars, pelagic encounters, colorful Moorish idols, butterfly-fish and parrotfish, all topped with a confetti-like spray of orange and purple Anthias.

Fishing in Beqa Lagoon is good all year around. Troll for the adrenaline rush when you experience the thrill of fighting a Yellow Fin Tuna.

July to November is great for the Black Marlin. July through August is the best time if you are after Blue Marlin, Wahoo and Spanish mackerel.

June is the month when the water boils with Yellow Tuna and February is the time for Barracuda.

We have big fast boats and the best equipment to insure your hunt is always successful. We can arrange for a half or full day boat charter that will accommodate up to six.

Fijian Culture
Experience true Fijian culture and tradition at Beqa Lagoon Resort including local village excursions, Kava ceremonies, music and ancient warrior dancing, plus the sacred fire walking ceremony performed regularly at our resort.

 

Fire Walking on any given week is just a few feet from the Bure Kalou. The guests of Beqa Lagoon Resort have the exclusive privilege of witnessing the sacred fire walking ceremony. This mysterious ceremony originated in Beqa over 300 years ago and the legend continues today throughout Fiji.

Early in the day, young men from the neighboring village carry large branches to the resort and build an enormous bonfire underneath a pile of stones. When the fire is low and the stones are glowing red, the warriors reappear in ceremonial dress.

The eldest begins a deep resonant chant, and slowly, one by one, the very young to the very old walk carefully across the scalding stones. It is a mystical and spiritual ceremony not to be missed.

 

Meke, the traditional Fijian dance and singing show is performed each week and you can enjoy the traditional Fijian performance through which Fijians express themselves and narrate stories of their life. You will be able to see the women dancing and singing and the ancient warriors too.

Kava Ceremony, partake in this traditional event by joining the circle of locals and guests sitting around the large wooden kava bowl. Sip the local “firewater” from coconut shells. No ceremony or social gathering is complete without it. You will learn the proper etiquette of drinking this bitter brew. It is non alcoholic, a rare social lubricant without next day payback, though it slightly numbs your tongue and can make you pleasantly sleepy. The taste is definitely acquired, but there’s a nice musty, botanical edge to it.
