Papageno's Diving

The island of Kadavu is surrounded The Great Astrolabe Reef, the 3rd largest reef in the world where waters are emerald-blue and the visibility often exceeds 35 meters.

The Great Astrolabe Reef is a 110 km long barrier reef, running from the southeastern tip of Kadavu towards the north, around Ono Island and further to the north.

Rated as one of the world's premier dive sites, the reef offers an amazing mix of corals (both soft and hard) and large fish such as the gentle behemoths, The Manta Rays. Astrolabe reef got its name after the French explorer Dumont d'Urvilles collided with the reef in his ship, "The Astrolabe".

The expeienced divemasters at Papagenos offer you some of  the world's best dive sites and know every nook, cranny and fish.

Papageno's dive shop is equipped with Scuba Pro gear. Bring your own gear or Papageno can supply you with rental equipment.

Their two dive boats can take you quickly and safely to over 40 amazing dive spots. One new 23' dive boat and ?????

Diving is offered daily. Two morning dives are scheduled each day, plus there may be optional afternoon and night dives available.

Beach diving is available.

In addition to sea turtles, soft and hard coral, lobsters the size of small dogs, and the occasional passing whale, Papageno’s waters are also home to about 800+ fish species.

Special Dive Trips

The best dive sites reachable from Papageno Resort are Naigoro Passage, Ray Bay Reef, the Three Pinnacles and Soso. Due to the distance from Papageno Resort, this trip is always combined with a picnic lunch and is a full day outing.

Dive Instruction

Papageno is privileged to have a PADI Master Instructor on staff (in addition to PADI Dive Masters).

As a result, not only can beginners learn to dive in extreme safety, but PADI dive certifications are available all the way up to Dive Master level.

Even guests who are already Dive Masters may be interested in upgrading their skills with specialty courses, such as Night Diver, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Coral Reel Conservation, Rescue Diver, and various other skills for serious scuba pros.
